Steps for Getting Over a Broken Heart
1. Day one - Day three its okay to be upset (cry even for some people). You should be around people who care about. Talk with really good friends (renting is really good as well).
3. Day seven - Day nine get out the house. Hang out with friends. Find a new hobby. Find something to do to replace all of that extra energy and time that you will have (sometimes its okay if you go out on dates, get under someone new, but make sure if they are rebound that you let them know your intentions).
4. Day ten you should be fine at this point enjoy all the new things and forgive your past so you can move on cleanly. Not forgiving means that the past will still have some kind of hold on you (you don't want that) so forgive so you can move on. Look at your past relationship as a lesson learned and take from it what you know not to do or look for in your future.
