This appears to be more relavant given the need for rejuvenating the state chapters. Why not we have this as simple links on the main page itself and make it damn easy to join the chapter. The most important thing to do is to have the members join the chapters and have the contact numbers. Once these are there the IV state chapters could follow up and get the activities rolling with these members.
Bottom line: Have the state chapter joining links on the main page and have it simplified for the members to join very easily ( kind of taking the name, contact number and email and nothing more) later the chapter core could get in touch with them and get the complete profile. A kind of marketing gimmick.

On May 18, 2009, the Texas Senate passed a bill requiring Sheriffs or any other officers in charge of a correctional facility, to determine the “citizenship status” of all convicted felons. The bill, S.B 2584, amends Chapter 2, Code of Criminal Procedure, by adding Article 2.245. If a defendant has been convicted of a felony under Title 5 (Offenses Against the Person), Penal Code, Title 6 (Offenses Against the Family), Penal Code, Title 7 (Offenses Against Property), Penal Code, Chapter 43 (Public Indecency), Title 9 (Offenses Against Public Order and Decency), Penal Code, Chapter 45 (Weapons), Title 10 (Offenses Against Public Health, Safety, and Morals), Penal Code, and Chapter 481 (Texas Controlled Substances Act), Health and Safety Code, the sheriff or officer will make a reasonable effort to determine the defendant’s “citizenship status”. If the sheriff has reason to believe the defendant is a foreign national, within 48 hours after the defendant is received at the correctional facility, the sheriff or officer will contact the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to verify the defendant’s immigration status. The bill becomes effective September 1, 2009.

Hi guys,
My LCA got denied today (reason unknown) and my H1-B has expired on Nov. 1 as well. :(
I also have a pending I-485 petition with approved I-140. I also have a valid EAD. So I assume, I am currently shifted to AOS pending status working on EAD.
My question is whether this denial negatively affects my pending I-485 application? I assume not but just wanted to confirm anyways :confused:

I would suggest just show the salary and what you have in the bank in USA. That would be good enough. If you see the question....it asks for how much money you have in the US banks and not in outside banks. So you do not need to put that in this form.

applied June 27th( NSC ), still no FP..
Called them yesterday..the lady said that we need to wait for a 102 more days before they can consider this an issue :eek:
basically, there is no time period for FP , if we dont get EAD in the time frame then we call and ask. That's what the lady suggested.

Best thing would be to get there and explain your situation to the visa officers or front desk staff. Explain them you made a honest mistake and see if your appt can still be accomodated. Try to convince them somehow, tell about your travel plans, say job is in line if you don't get back in time etc and hope they honor your request. Anyway, Good Luck.
