Toadying to boss good for health: Wonder Woman - Who are you today?

Many of your colleagues may envy you, but a new study says that toadying to the boss could be good for your health.

Researchers have found in the five-year study that staffers who ingratiate themselves into the boss's good books are actually less prone to bullying and the stress it brings, the 'Daily Express' reported.

Being ignored or excluded by colleagues and superiors is one of the most common forms of workplace bullying, with two thirds of respondents interviewed for the study saying they were victims.

Almost one third -- 29 per cent -- said colleagues deliberately left the room when they entered -- a form of psychological bullying.

For the study, the researchers from the US and Chinese universities surveyed 200 workers in China.

The results revealed that bullying by co-workers was "positively related" to stress and employees who sucked up to the boss "neutralised" the bullying.

The findings have been published in the 'Journal of Management Studies'.
